City of Chicago Pays Over 80 Million Dollars Defending Cops in Police Misconduct Cases

Jul 16, 2012 / by / on News

Since the 1970’s the City of Chicago has paid good money to private attorneys to represent the City and its police officers in the most egregious police misconduct cases, including paying over a million dollars to defend the City and Jon Burge in several police torture cases.

The People’s Law Office calculates that the City has paid over $80 million dollars to private law firms since 2003 to defend police misconduct cases – money that could have gone towards the victims of police torture, brutality, false arrest, and false convictions.
